    The Role


    The Category Management Analyst is a key role tasked with supporting core and new expansive (non-paper-dependent) categories in our modern Itasca, IL headquarters. In this role you will proactively execute research activities needed to provide insights into Fellowes, customers, category consumers and marketplace performance in order to meet our category objectives. As the industry expert for Fellowes within your assigned categories, you will take ownership for your recommendations and be in a critical position to effect change within the business. This is an exciting opportunity to make a significant impact and gain unmatched exposure within category management and across other areas of our business.


    You Will: 

    • Determine and quantify primary business opportunities and key drivers by analyzing data and developing actionable business insights that support the goals of our customers and Fellowes Brands
    • Mine existing research and consumer data on a regular basis to communicate insights synthesized from multiple sources and different data sets in support of key business opportunities
    • Analyze syndicated data to identify current industry trends, forecast future trends and recognize potential opportunities for Fellowes and retailers
    • Identify consumption barriers, seasonality and channel preferences to develop consumer insights needed to identify potential new business opportunities
    • Present business insights to sales and business leadership teams
    • Support team members, sales and business teams with ad hoc projects and requests (i.e. customer reports, sales presentation, promotional analytics, etc.)
    • Perform project-based analytics associated with operational efficiencies

    What You Bring to the Team 

    • A bachelor’s degree in business, marketing or related field
    • A minimum of two (2) years of relevant professional experience, to include analytics
    • Creativity in your research, pulling data from different areas with the goal of creating a compelling story (not just generating reports)
    • Advanced analytical abilities and techniques in not just understanding the data collected, but also the ability to develop intuitive and actionable insights
    • Initiative when it comes to solving problems and offering new ideas
    • The ability to work cooperatively cross-functionally and with our customers, cultivating positive relationships and providing assistance and support to others in an effort to achieve common objectives
    • The confidence to work independently as the main subject matter expert in your categories
    • Strong financial acumen to calculate margins, business growth and declines, and promotional impacts
    • Advanced knowledge of syndicated data and applications
    • Strong sales presentation and development skills
    • Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to adapt to different audiences
